Students have been practicing and working hard for our special Christmas Mass on the 21st!

DeSales Alumni Christmas Mass 12/21

On Friday, December 21st our Christmas Mass will be held at 9am in the DeSales Gym with Father Walter Szczesny. Directly after Mass we will sing traditional Christmas carols, and have a visit with Santa Claus! Hope to see you there!

BPO French Hornist Visits 4th Grade Music Class

Today Buffalo Philharmonic French hornist, Sheryl Hadeka visited our 4th grade classes during music. Following the structure of stories, Sheryl explored how music can make its own narrative. Students were guided to create their own unique story by listening to music and choosing melodies for a beginning, middle, and end. Some of the melodies in this presentation were familiar to the students- espcially the Harry Potter and Superman theme. This was a great way to allow students to connect with the mood and character of each musical piece played and decide where their own personal tale would go!

Thankful Mass 11/14

Please join us on Wednesday, November 14th 9:40am-10:40am in the DeSales Gym. Mass will celebrate Thanksgiving and Veterans Day. We will have a chance to reflect on all we are thankful for, especially the men and women who have served in our military. If you know a Veteran, please invite them to attend. Mass will be celebrated with Father Dan Young, and all are welcome to attend!

Mass 9/26

We will be having Mass on Wednesday, September 26th in the DeSales Gym from 9:40am-10:40am with Fr. Dan Fawls. All are welcome to attend!

Mass Choir

On Tuesday September 11th, we will be having our first Choir rehearsal. Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday and Friday from 2:10pm-2:40pm in the music room, and grades five through eight are invited!

The following day, September 12th, we will be having our first school Mass in the Desales Gymnasium from 9:40am-10:40am with Father Walter Szczesny. All are welcome to attend!

Instrument Lessons With Ms. Dube

DeSales is offering weekly instrumental music lessons for all students who are interested this year. These lessons are individual and allow your child to get private music instruction for 30 minutes every week. The instruments offered are: piano, guitar, clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, saxophone, oboe, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba, and all percussion (including snare drum OR drum set). As I approach my last day of school tomorrow, I am overcome with emotion! I feel so grateful and blessed to have been a part of these wonderful children's lives this year!!! It has been such a fun, challenging, exciting, wonderful experience, and I am forever changed.

End Of Year Mass

Our last school Mass will be Wednesday, June 20th from 9am-10am with Father Jozef Dudzik. All are welcome to attend.

Spring Concert 2018

Students worked very hard to prepare for our Spring Concert this year! Thanks to Mr. Joe Granchelli for the art direction, we were able to make our concert ideas come to life! Each grade had a hand in the songs chosen, and all songs were centered around the themes of peace, love, and kindness.  

Music Grant

Thanks to the Kenan Center Of The Arts and The UTR Grant we have been able to get brand new Ipads, Regal Tip drum sticks, and bucket drums for our music classes next year!

May Crowning Mass

On Wednesday, May 23rd our third grade classes will be performing a special meditation song after communion during the May Crowning Mass. Please join us as we celebrate our students who made their first Holy Communion this month. Mass will be held in the Gym 9:40am-10:40am, and all are welcome to attend.

Spring Concert 2018

Our students have been working hard preparing for our Spring Concert which will be held Wednesday, May 30th at 8:30am in the Gym. Each grade, kindergarten through eighth will be performing a song. Our DeSales Mass choir and dance team will also have a special performance! Each song is centered around the themes of kindness, love, and peace. We can't wait to share a special morning of music with all of you!

Generation Celebration Mass

We will be celebrating Mass and honoring our Grandparents for grades 6, 7, and 8 on Wednesday, March 14th from 9:40am-10:40am in the DeSales Gym. We hope you can all attend. The Mass choir has been preparing a special song to sing for all Grandparents during the Communion meditiation.

DeSales Family Mass

We are celebrating a DeSales Family Mass at Saint John the Baptist Church this upcoming Saturday, February 10th at 5PM, and directly after Mass there will be pizza and dessert served in the Church Hall. All are welcome to attend! Hope to see you all there!!!

Catholic School Mass Bishop Malone Visits

Our visit last week from Bishop Malone was so exciting! He toured our school, talked with students, and enjoyed our beautiful music at Mass. We loved having him at our school, and hope he will visit us again very soon!

Here is a clip of our Mass Choir singing an original song written by our accompainist, Mr. Ken Kaufman called, "Let Love Live After Christmas." It is truly such a beautiful message, and the choir shared it as our meditation song.

DeSales Alumni Christmas Mass

On December 21st we celebrated our Christmas Mass. The Mass was filled with prayer and beautiful music. Then, directly after the Mass, the whole school sang Christmas carols together. Not only did our Mass Choir work very hard learning new songs, grades K-3 practiced for weeks on the Christmas carols, and Profe's 8th grade Spanish class performed a traditional Venezuelan Christmas song with some students accompanying the class on guitar. Sister Jeanette was also able to join us on cello- making our celebration even more enjoyable!! Mr. Granchelli (our fourth grade teacher) made gorgeous winter snowflakes, and provided us with all of the lights and garland for our stage. He is truly amazing!!! Mr. Claus even came to join us to sing carols and bring a gift for baby Jesus. The Sheldon family really helped us in this endeavor!!! ;) Saint John's kindly provided us with a manger scene, and the Chesko family donated gorgeous red poinsettias to place at our altar. I am truly so thankful to all those involved!!! It was such a great way to end the year, and I look forward to all that is in store for 2018!
